Yay Beignet | Our Story

Born in a Pandemic, Built on Community

Yay Beignet started with one person, one dream, and a whole lot of faith. George launched Yay Beignet in the middle of the pandemic, turning his passion for food into one of Atlanta's most beloved beignet shops, voted #1 two years running. Every beignet is made to order, hot and fresh. From classic powdered sugar to bold savory flavors like oxtail and Berbere fire chicken, each bite is made with love. Come for the beignets, stay for the coffee, and leave feeling like family.
A Love Story, Baked In

A Love Story, Baked In

George and his wife didn't set out to open a restaurant — they set out to share something they believed in. New Orleans soul met Ethiopian heart, and Atlanta got the beignet shop it didn't know it needed.

Born at Irwin Street Market

It started as a humble stall at Irwin Street Market, with a bold claim: "the best beignets this side of the Mississippi." Atlanta lined up, agreed, and kept coming back.

The Ethiopian coffee ceremony isn't a menu item — it's a family tradition served alongside the beignets. Pair it with the bourbon pralines caramel dipping sauce for something no other shop can replicate.

From market stall to a full café in Hapeville — with garden seating and a Macon outpost on Cherry Street — the brand has grown without losing a step of its soul. Voted Atlanta's #1 Beignets two years running.

George still greets guests himself, and every order goes straight from the fryer to your hands — hot, fresh, never sitting under a lamp. As one guest said: "These beignets would make New Orleans proud."
